St. Mathew:  Tax Collector, Apostle and Evangelist – and his Gospel

Mathew's primary audience was Jewish/Christians in 1st century Palestine. His primary message was to identify Jesus of Nazareth as the promised Messiah. His perspective was as unique as his Gospel. What does his Gospel tell us about Jesus? About the community Jesus left behind - the Church? And about our 21st-century Christian lives, especially in this Year of the Eucharist?
