The Christian Formation Committee is concerned with Catholic education in the parish. The committee works to support the following groups:
Religious Education
Classes for children from pre-school through 9th grade are held on Sunday mornings. All students must be registered through the Religious Education Office. Catholic school students are required to receive the sacraments in the parish where the family is registered. Students and their parents are expected to attend all sacramental preparation sessions. The students are required to attend any general meetings. If you have a child attending a Catholic school who is eligible to receive Reconciliation, First Eucharist, or Confirmation, please call the Religious Education Office for information at (302) 658-7017 ext 4. All catechists are volunteers from the parish community who are willing to share their faith with the young. Each catechist prepares a weekly lesson plan, participates in scheduled meetings with the Director of Religious Education, and attends periodic workshops when possible. Catechists depend on the parish for support, prayer, and cooperation.
Order of Christian Initiation of Adults
OCIA (formerly RCIA) is implemented in our parish for those who seek formal membership in the Catholic Church. The process prepares individuals to be received into the Church at the annual Easter Vigil. To view/download the application form, please click on this link.
For additional questions, please call the Parish Office at (302) 658-7017.
Library
The Religious Education Office has a collection of videos, audiotapes, and books available to parishioners for borrowing.
Small Faith Sharing Groups
As an outgrowth of the Renew process, there are several small groups meeting at various times and places during the year. They are open to all who are interested.
Silent Prayer Community
As individual followers of Christ and as a church body, our prayer group's commitment and passion to pray is a privilege and extension of God's love for us and care for one another. Please remember parishioners and friends of St. Joseph on the Brandywine in your prayers. Submission of prayer requests may be sent to the Silent Prayer Community, Cindi Clare at [email protected]
