A warm welcome to St. Joseph on the Brandywine Religious Education!

Classes for grades K-8 are held Sunday mornings, from 10 - 11:30 am, immediately following the 9am Mass. Confirmation preparation in grade 9 follows a separate schedule. We are grateful for our dedicated team of catechists, catechist aides, and teen helpers who make our program a success.

We believe that "the Christian home is the place where children receive the first proclamation of the faith" (Catechism of the Catholic Church 1666), and parents play an essential role in faith formation. We help you in this important task with parent enrichment gatherings, a weekly newsletter and family activities.

We fully participate in the Diocese of Wilmington Safe Environments program, For the Sake of God's Children and are committed to the safety of the children you entrust to our care.

Sacraments:

All sacraments take place at the parish to which the family belongs. Whether your child attends our Religious Ed or a Catholic school, he or she will celebrate First Reconciliation, First Eucharist, and Confirmation with your parish family here at St. Joseph on the Brandywine. Preparation for these sacraments will also take place here.

There is a minimal two year preparation period for First Reconciliation, First Eucharist and Confirmation. Students who wish to celebrate First Reconciliation and First Eucharist in grade 2 must be in Religious Education or Catholic school in grade 1. Our parish celebrates Confirmation in grade 9: students who wish to join this class must be in Religious Education or Catholic school in grade 8. Please call Eva with any questions - we are happy to work with those who need a "catch up" year.
